Timmy’s Nightmare
By Maria T.
He awoke with a start; he had had the most awful dream. It took him a while to remember where he was. Then he knew. His parents had sent him to spend the summer with his great uncle Max. Looking around the dusty gray room, Timmy recalled just how strange Uncle Max was. Sure, he was rich and sent cool presents. However, his walls were plastered with photos of strange, imaginary creatures. Uncle Max always insisted that the se creatures were real. Now, what was that dream about again? Oh, yeah. Uncle Max had turned into one of the creatures on his wall. The one that he called Loranu. The dream was really creepy. As Timmy sat, remembering details from his dream, he heard something downstairs. He got up and went to investigate.
He found Uncle Max sitting in his armchair by the hearth twitching and muttering incoherently. Without warning Uncle Max fell off of his chair. Timmy stepped closer. Upon this closer examination Timmy saw that his uncle was sweating profusely and moaning. Then, Uncle Max started growing and swelling! Timmy stepped a little closer. Uncle Max was growing horns and fangs. He was sprouting wings, big, black, bat wings! Timmy leaned closer still. Suddenly, Uncle Max stood up, and started sniffing the air around him. Timmy ran. He ran out the front door and across the lawn. He leapt over the gate, and started sprinting to the village. The whole time Uncle Max was gliding, that’s right gliding, 10 feet behind him. As Timmy neared the village, he wished that he had gotten a better look at the monster that was Uncle Max. Then, he could’ve told the police exactly what this monster looked like. He got his wish.
Uncle Max was upon him before Timmy could turn around. Uncle Max was screeching and yelling something awful. He was yelling, “Foolish mortals! You cannot escape my master’s power! Loranu’s master will punish the humans for their bad deeds. Loranu will help him. Chompeha will come again! He is Loranu’s master.” Timmy was scared stiff. This creature couldn’t be his Uncle Max, could it? Uncle Max continued, “Chompeha will bring around the new world Galona! Purged of all humans! Animals, demons, and spirits will all live together in harmony! No humans will ever destroy this world, because Chompeha and Loranu will destroy theirs!” While Uncle Max was yelling this, Timmy got a good look at him. He wished he hadn’t. Uncle Max now had a pale green skin color, and his horns vibrated with evil. His clothes had been reduced to rags hanging off of his body. His teeth were dripping with the blood and gore of all his victims. The worst part by far was his eyes. They were solid black, with devil’s fire spitting and dancing in the middle. The flame was always changing color, but it was always white hot. Uncle Max was finishing his speech, unaware that Timmy was staring, obviously disgusted with what he was seeing. Uncle Max shouted, “Chompeha is Demon of the Dead, Master of Misrule, and King of Chaos. Loranu has a title too. Loranu is the Vampire of Souls. I can bite off your head and suck out your soul. Chompeha, along with Loranu, will wipe out the human race. So that they will never again cause pain to other creatures! When they die, it will be a slow and painful death. They will feel all the suffering that they have brought upon the world. When they finally die, they will have had all happiness drained away. They will be glad to die. Chompeha and Loranu will make sure that every human is destroyed. Starting with YOU!!!!” Timmy’s scream of agony pierced the otherwise tranquil night like gunfire.
He awoke with a start; he had had the most awful dream…
