Chapter 1: A Simple Game
“Jack, just listen to me for a second, if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have a career!”
“I know, I’m just nervous about the interview tomorrow.” Jack was the writer for the Chicago Tribune newspaper, and his dream was to be a writer for the New York Times, which he had an interview for tomorrow. “What if I don’t get the job, after all, I’m only 23 years old, and just out of college.”
“Not to be mean, but who else is there to get the job, I’m not saying that you got the job for sure, but you got a good shot at getting it. That’s all I’m saying, “ said Jack’ new agent.
Beep, beep, beep went Jack’s phone. “Hang on, I got another call coming in, I’ll call you back in a second.”
“Don’t bother, I got a board meeting in the morning at 6:30 AM tomorrow, and I got to get to sleep, just keep in mind what I said.
“I will, bye.” Jack hung up the phone as quickly as he could, because he didn’t want to hear another word out of his agent’s mouth. “Why do I even have that agent?” he asked himself.
He picked up the phone again to see who was calling him. It was the voice of a woman. “Hello? Is Mandy there?” said the woman.
“No, I think that you have the wrong number.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, who is this anyway?”
“My name is Jackson, Jack Jackson.”
“Hey! You’re the writer! You write an article in the Chicago Tribune!” said the woman sounded very surprised.
“Yep.” Jack said plainly.
“Well, in that case, I have something that might concern you,” all of a sudden, the woman’s voice changed to the sound of a cold hearted killer, someone who sound just plain evil, “I’m standing in you apartment, right next to you girlfriend, as she sleep so quietly, just like a little angel. I would hate for anything to happen to her, oops, that right I don’t care! All I wanna do is play a little game of Who Wants To See Their Girlfriend Live. It’s really fun! Now, I’m gonna ask you three questions, if you get them right, she lives, if you don’t, she’s gonna have a hard time waking up. Now, that is the name of the movie that has a man by the name of Micheal Myers in it?”
“Halloween!” Jack yelled.
“Ding, ding, ding! There is one right answer. Now for number two, what is my favorite color?”
“How am I supposed to answer that…”
“Oh, there one wron answer.”
At that, Jack ran out of his office and to his car, his apartment was only a mile away, but with traffic in Chicago, it could take him half an hour to get home. He stayed on the phone, not wanting to anger the man who claims to about to kill his girlfriend.
When Jack put the phone back to his ear, he heard nothing but a beeping. “Honey, I’m home!” said the killer in Jack’s voice, “Come here, I got you a gift, it’s a mop, so I can clean up all your blood when it spills to the floor!”
At that, Jack’s girlfriend raced into the bathroom, and locked the door. Then, all of a sudden, a knife began banging through the door, then it stopped.
“Honey, come on,” the killer said in Jack’s voice, I just wanna play a little game.” He said with great emphasis on the word little. Just then, she heard a door open then slam shut, it was the real Jack.
“Baby, are okay, where are you?” Jack turned and saw the knife marks on the door where someone had been stabbing through it. “Baby,” he said as he broke down the door. From out of the towel closet in the bathroom she came out with a showerhead in her hand, threatening to hit him with it.
“Why do you want to kill me?” she said frightened.
Just then the killer, in a simple Halloween costume appeared behind Jack’s girlfriend. “Watch out!” he yelled, the killer then stabbing Jack’s girlfriend in the back, then stabbing Jack’s leg so that he couldn’t move.
“Shame, shame, shame, I never wanted to kill any of you. All I wanted to do was play a game,” said the killer holding a voice changer up to his mouth, “but, you took your chance, and now, you lose!”
Sling went the killer’s blade against Jack’s throat.
Chapter 2: It was Never a Good Idea
“By the time police got to the crime scene, it was too late, by far, to save any of them.” Lauren then shuts off the T.V., sick of hearing nothing about a small time writer getting murdered, it’s Chicago, thousands get murdered a year. “What could you possibly gain by killing a writer, creative control?” she thought to herself.
Lauren got up from her couch, got into her car, and drove to party that was supposed to be going on that night. On her way, her cell phone rang. “Hello.” She answered annoyingly.
“Ya, I’d like an extra large Canadian bacon pizza please?” said a man.
“I’m sorry, you must have the wrong number.”
“No, I don’t, don’t look to your left though.”
Just then, Lauren was hit by another car on her left side.
Chapter 3: The Man in the Corner
Lauren woke up in the bed of a hospital, she remembers nothing about the crash. When she first opens her eyes, the first thing that she sees is a man standing over in the corner all alone, no one else noticing him, he’s just standing there, looking at her.
Chapter 4: The Final Game
About a week later, Lauren was discharged from the hospital, she has a left broken leg, a sprained wrist, and bruised ribs. All went perfect for about two months, but she still saw the same man that she saw starring at her in the corner of the hospital.
When Lauren got her casts off, she decided to take it slow and watch a movie. She started the movie, it was a scary movie call Halloween. During the movie the phone rang. “Hello?” she answered.
“Hi, what’s up?” said a man sounding relaxed and cool.
“Nothing, just watching a movie.” She said carelessly.
“Wait, who is this anyway, this is not Bob.”
“How does it matter who it is?” she said.
“Because I want to know who I’m looking at.”
“What? What did you say?” said Lauren as she went around locking doors, she became very afraid.
“I want to know who I’m talking to.”
“That’s not what you said.”
Crash went the sound of one of her windows, along with the power going out. “What do you want?” she said as the phone went dead. She saw a dark figure slip through the darkness of her house. Lauren ran out of the room. The phone rang again. “Hello.”
“Goodbye!”
Lauren turns around, then seeing the dark, tall figure standing behind her. He raised his knife, Lauren darted away into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and hid behind the kitchen cabinet. The phone rang again, “Hello.”
“Lauren, Lauren, Lauren, now all I wanted to do is play a little game, but you never even let me tell you that.” He said as Lauren spotted him creeping in the wrong direction. “And now you lose!”
“No, you lose!” She said as she stabbed him in the back.
All of the terror was over, from then on, she never saw another man following her around. She never knew who he was, not even the police department could figure that out. Either way, she still alive, and has no more terror in her life.
